Catastrophic Events is a new Earth science kit, piloted by Charlie and Lisa Livelybrooks in Fall 2007 at Crow Middle School. This kit is designed for 7th and 8th graders. It contains lessons on weather and natural disasters such as earthquakes. Specific topics:
- Warming and cooling rates of land and water
- Warming and cooling of air (and how it leads to movement of air)
- Convection currents
- Cloud formation
- Tornadoes and other vortices
- Plate Tectonics
